Garmin Adds WhatsApp Support to Select Smartwatches
Garmin users can now access WhatsApp directly on their wrists, thanks to a recent app available in the Connect IQ™ Store. The app, released on March 17, 2026, allows users to read, reply to, and react to messages without needing to reach for their smartphones.

How it Works and Previous Limitations
Previously, WhatsApp functionality on Garmin watches was limited, functioning as an extension of the phone. Notifications disappeared from the watch when cleared on the smartphone, and iPhone users could only read and delete notifications without the ability to reply. Currently, the app requires a paired Android or iOS phone via Bluetooth. Voice input is not yet supported, and incoming calls can only be declined. Future updates may include Wi-Fi connectivity for direct app communication.
