Shazad Latif: The Familiar Face in ‘Wuthering Heights’ and Beyond
It’s still early in 2026, but Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights is one of the year’s biggest and most discussed films. The movie serves as a new interpretation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel. Viewers will undoubtedly recognize Margot Robbie as Cathy, and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. But many may also recognize Shazad Latif, who plays Edgar Linton, and wonder where they’ve seen him before.
Who is Shazad Latif?
Fennell’s film tells the tale of a tumultuous love story set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, focusing on the passionate and doomed romance between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. Latif’s performance stands out amidst the romantic chaos. While Robbie and Elordi are household names, Latif’s career has been a steady climb with appearances in numerous well-known projects.
A Prolific Television Career
Latif’s resume is impressively diverse. Many recognize him from his role as Ash Tyler/Voq on the first two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery.1 However, that’s just a fraction of his perform. He also played Dr. Jekyll in season 3 of Penny Dreadful. Other television credits include the pilot episode of Black Mirror’s “The National Anthem,” MI-5, Toast of London, Nautilus, Atomic, and voice work as Kylan in Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
From ‘The Commuter’ to ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It?’
Latif’s filmography is equally extensive. He appeared as Kushal in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and in the Liam Neeson action film The Commuter (2018). He also starred in the thriller Profile in 2018. Additional film credits include The Man Who Knew Infinity, Falling for Figaro, What’s Love Got to Do with It?, Rogue Agent, and Magpie.
