Lisette Wellens Makes Vandaag Inside Debut Alongside Johan Derksen and Wilfred Van Genee
Television presenter Lisette Wellens made her debut as a guest on the talk show Vandaag Inside on Tuesday, October 14, 2026, sitting alongside regular hosts Wilfred Genee, Johan Derksen, and René van der Gijp, according to Socialnieuws.nl.
Derksen Praises Performance While Duk Warns of Left-Leaning Background
Johan Derksen championed the new arrival, offering an unusually warm reception for a first-time guest, Mediacourant.nl reported. Derksen praised her poise, noting that her nine years presenting a daily current affairs programme prepared her to speak on any topic without nervousness. However, The Telegraaf journalist Wierd Duk issued a direct warning to the table during the broadcast. Duk, who previously appeared on Wellens’ morning show Good morning Netherlands, described her politics as left-leaning, prompting Derksen to joke that he would have never brought her on board had he known earlier. During the broadcast, Wellens refused to make her political preference known.
Social Media Reaction and Viewer Criticism Follows First Appearance
Viewers took to social media in large numbers following the broadcast, voicing mixed reactions to the debut, Socialnieuws.nl reported. Television critic Victor Vlam noted on X that while her performance was far from a disaster, she frequently slipped into the role of a discussion leader rather than a guest, often cutting off bar guests and disrupting the flow at the table. Job Knoester also shared his perspective, remarking that she acted more like a host than a table guest by asking a large number of questions.
Potential Successor to Estavana Polman
Following her appearance, Wellens has been mentioned as a possible successor to Estavana Polman, who previously joined the table before her collaboration with Vandaag Inside quickly ended. Her years of experience interviewing politicians, experts, and other guests provide her with the ability to handle conversations that frequently head in multiple directions.
