Williams to Skip Barcelona Pre-Season Test, Focusing on bahrain Readiness
Williams Racing has announced it will forgo participation in the upcoming pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, opting instead to prioritize progress work on its dynamic rig ahead of the Bahrain test scheduled for February 11-13. While the team still has one mandatory impact test to complete on the nose box, this is not the primary driver behind the decision.
The team stated that this strategic shift will allow for focused running of both the car and engine, optimizing performance in preparation for the Bahrain International Circuit. Most other teams are expected to utilize the Barcelona test, permitted to run a maximum of three days between January 26-30.
Several other Formula 1 teams are also facing delays in their testing schedules. McLaren, the reigning World Champions, anticipate being unable to run on the first day, and perhaps the second, as they finalize design elements of their new car.Ferrari will begin their testing program on Tuesday, and Aston Martin is also not expected to participate on the first day of the Barcelona test.
Williams finished fifth in the 2023 Constructors’ Championship and will continue with its driver lineup of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz for the 2026 season.
