Wilmington College secured the 39th overall spot among Midwest Region colleges and ranked 36th among Top Private Midwest Region Colleges in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released in September 2026. The designations place the institution third highest among Ohio schools within a regional category spanning 12 states.
U.S. News Rankings and Social Mobility
In addition to its overall regional standing, Wilmington College earned a 22nd-place regional ranking for social mobility. The institution also received recognition for consistent academic excellence from U.S. News & World Report, which noted that only 30 percent of evaluated colleges achieve a high ranking for five or more years in a row.
Specialized Program and Value Recognition
Lesser-known ranking organizations highlighted specific academic programs and affordability metrics at the college. Niche placed Wilmington College’s agriculture program among the top 100 nationwide and named the institution one of the 20 Best Value Colleges in Ohio. The Niche best value methodology evaluates net price, alumni earnings, graduation rates, and the amount of student debt.
Meanwhile, Washington Monthly placed Wilmington College among the top 300 best universities and colleges in the Midwest out of approximately 900 evaluated institutions. The publication also ranked the college in the top 75 for Best Rural Colleges out of 1,200 nationwide. Washington Monthly evaluates rural institutions based on degree offerings in demand in rural areas, student loan debt at graduation, and earnings performance four years post-graduation.
Institutional Leadership and Membership Renewals
Adding to the autumn assessment season, Colleges of Distinction renewed Wilmington College’s membership for the eighth consecutive year, recognizing the campus for engaged students, great teaching, a vibrant community, and successful outcomes.
