Winona Ryder to Guest Star in ‘Wednesday’ Season 3, Completing ‘Beetlejuice’ Reunion

Netflix’s hit series Wednesday is set to welcome Winona Ryder as a guest star in its third season, marking a reunion with director Tim Burton and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-star Jenna Ortega. Production for the upcoming season has commenced near Dublin, Ireland.

A Familiar Face Returns to Tim Burton’s World

The casting of Ryder brings together a frequent collaborator with Burton, having previously worked together on iconic films such as the original Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands (1990), and the more recent Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024). Ortega likewise appeared in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, playing Ryder’s daughter, solidifying the connection that prompted showrunners to add Ryder to the Wednesday cast.

“I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world,” Burton stated to E! News. “And she’s a dear friend. I always sense lucky to work with her.”

Ryder’s Role and New Additions to the Cast

Although details surrounding Ryder’s character, Tabitha, remain largely undisclosed, it has been revealed she will appear in multiple episodes Deadline reports. Tabitha is connected to three other new characters: Cyrus, played by Noah Taylor; Atticus, played by Oscar Morgan; and Daisy, played by Kennedy Moyer.

Joining Ryder and the returning cast are Chris Sarandon, known for The Princess Bride, and Eva Green, who will portray Morticia Addams’ sister, Ophelia The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Showrunners Express Enthusiasm

Wednesday creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar expressed their excitement about Ryder’s involvement, stating, “When it comes to Outcasts, Winona Ryder is the GOAT. Her legendary partnership with Tim Burton has defined some of cinema’s most unforgettable characters. We loved collaborating with her on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to Nevermore.”

Returning Cast and Production Details

Season 3 will also see the return of Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, Luis Guzmán, and Fred Armisen. Gough and Millar shared in a statement, “It’s our dark delight to fling open Nevermore Academy’s gates once more as we initiate production on Season Three. We thank our invincible cast and crew for their continued commitment to doom and gloom…This season we welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets.”

The first two seasons of Wednesday are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
