Shiffrin Secures Slalom Title as Dubovská Shines in Åre, Adamczyková Injured in Snowboard Cross

American ski star Mikaela Shiffrin clinched her ninth World Cup slalom title, marking her 109th career World Cup victory at the race in Åre, Sweden on March 15, 2026. Meanwhile, Czech skier Martina Dubovská achieved the fastest time in the second run, and Eva Adamczyková sustained an injury during a snowboard cross event.

Shiffrin Dominates Slalom Season

Mikaela Shiffrin’s win in Åre was her 72nd career World Cup slalom victory. She finished with a time of 1:43.35, leading Germany’s Emma Aicher (+0.94) and Switzerland’s Wendy Holdener (+1.00). Shiffrin secured the small globe for the slalom queen in January at Špindlerův Mlýn, Czechia, and also won gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Throughout the season, she won eight out of nine slalom races, with Camilla Rast of Switzerland being her only competitor to win a race, at Kranjska Gora in January.

Heading into the World Cup Finals, Shiffrin holds a 140-point lead over Emma Aicher, with both athletes eligible to score points in the remaining four races.

Dubovská’s Strong Second Run

Martina Dubovská delivered a remarkable second run, recording the fastest time of 52.57, despite starting 27th after the first round. She finished 11th her best result in the last two years, having previously achieved 11th place at the World Cup final in Saalbach in March 2024. Dubovská expressed her happiness at achieving the fastest second run, a first for her career, and looks forward to the next season.

Adamczyková’s Injury in Snowboard Cross

During a snowboard cross event, Eva Adamczyková was involved in a collision with French rider Léa Casta. Adamczyková fell but escaped serious injury, stating she was momentarily breathless but otherwise healthy. Sina Siegenthaler of Switzerland won the event, followed by Josie Baff of Australia and Charlotte Bankes.

Other Notable Results

In ski jumping, Domen Prevc of Slovenia won the event in Oslo, although Klára Ulrichová finished 30th, concluding her World Cup season. Marco Odermatt of Switzerland secured the small crystal globe for Super-G, despite the cancellation of the race in Courchevel due to poor visibility. Lukáš Doležal, the junior world champion, achieved his best World Cup finish of 21st in a Nordic combined event in Oslo, won by Johannes Lamparter of Austria.

Looking Ahead

The World Cup Finals are scheduled to begin on March 21 in Kvitfjell, Norway, where athletes will compete for final season titles. The cancellation of the Super-G race in Courchevel means that event will be rescheduled for the finals.
