Arrowhead and Gruszynski’s Titles Highlight WIAA State Gymnastics

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – The 2026 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) State Gymnastics Championships concluded Saturday, March 8, at Wisconsin Rapids High School, with Arrowhead High School claiming the Division 1 team title and Mackenzie Gruszynski of Hartford Union earning the all-around championship in the same division. The championships took place following the team competitions on Friday, March 6.

Division 1: Arrowhead Secures Fourth Team Title

Arrowhead secured its fourth state championship in program history, posting a four-event team score of 144.0164. This victory marks a significant improvement from their fifth-place finish in the previous season. Franklin/Muskego finished as the runner-up with a total score of 143.35, narrowly trailing Arrowhead.

Division 2: Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point Makes History

In Division 2, Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point achieved a historic win, earning their first team championship with a score of 139.6834. The team had previously placed third in the prior year, marking their highest finish in any of their co-op team configurations. Mount Horeb finished second with a score of 138.2001.

Individual Champions: Division 1

Mackenzie Gruszynski of Hartford Union dominated the Division 1 individual competition, winning the all-around title with a four-event score of 37.7167. Annika Lee of Waunakee/DeForest secured the runner-up position with a score of 37.3167, improving from her third-place finish last year and fourth-place finish in 2024.

Gruszynski also excelled in individual events, winning the uneven bars (9.2) and the balance beam (9.6167). Olivia Antreassian of Wilmot Union/Badger/Burlington/Union Grove/Williams Bay finished second on the uneven bars with a score of 9.1833, even as Claire Strayer of Waunakee/DeForest placed second on the balance beam, scoring a 9.35.

Lee claimed victory in the vault with a score of 9.6667, narrowly defeating Gruszynski (9.5667). She also won the floor exercise with a score of 9.7167, surpassing Dominika Ziemba of Verona/Edgewood, who scored 9.5.

Individual Champions: Division 2

Gabrielle Bjorkman of Sparta emerged as the Division 2 all-around champion, achieving a four-event score of 37.1334. This win represents an improvement from her fourth-place finish last season and 14th-place finish in 2024. Ruby Amundson of Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point finished second with a score of 37.05.

Bjorkman also secured individual titles in the uneven bars (9.1667) and the floor exercise (9.55). Madelyn Klein of Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point, the previous year’s champion on bars, finished second with a score of 9.1167. Jazlyn Kurth of Marshfield earned the championship on the beam with a score of 9.4333, while Amundson was runner-up, averaging a 9.333.

Klein won the championship on the vault with an average score of 9.45, while Kennedy Sefcik of Monona Grove was second, scoring a 9.4333.
