Wisconsin Women’s Track and Field Team Prepares for Large Ten Indoor Championships
MADISON, Wis – The Wisconsin women’s track and field team is set to compete at the Big Ten Indoor Championships this weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. Competition begins at 10:20 a.m. CT on Thursday, February 26th, and continues through Saturday, February 28th. Fans can follow the action live on Big Ten Plus, with live results available here. Key Athletes to Watch
Taylor Kesner – Weight Throw
The 2025 NCAA Indoor weight throw champion, Taylor Kesner, aims to add another title to her impressive record. Kesner’s winning throw at the NCAA Championships measured 77-1 ¼ (23.50m), ranking her No. 2 in Wisconsin indoor history. Last year, Chloe Lindman finished third at the Big Ten Championships with a throw of 73-3 ¼ (22.33m) and sixth at the NCAA Championships. Kesner has already demonstrated strong form this season, winning three of five weight throw competitions.
Nora Skoraczewski and Zonica Lindeque – Throwing Power
Nora Skoraczewski and Zonica Lindeque have both achieved top-ten marks in Wisconsin history. Skoraczewski won the weight throw at the Panther Tune-Up in Milwaukee with a throw of 66-6 ¼ (20.25m), securing the No. 9 spot in the UW record book. She has earned podium finishes in four of six meets this season. Lindeque won the shot put at the same meet with a toss of 54-11 ¼ (16.74m), improving her ranking from No. 8 to No. 5 on the UW top-10 list. She has won three of four shot put competitions this year.
Luciana Aizpurua – Freshman Sensation
Freshman Luciana Aizpurua has quickly made her mark, earning a place in the Badger record book twice this season. At the Jarvis Scott Invite, she ran a personal best of 7.48 seconds in the 60 meters, ranking her No. 5 in the Wisconsin indoor record book. Aizpurua will compete in both the 60 meters and 200 meters this weekend.
Distance Runners Ready to Compete
Five Wisconsin distance runners will participate in the championships: Kylie Finger, Bella Jacobsen, Zaira Malloy-Salgado, Sara Mlodik, and Leané Willemse. Finger and Willemse both achieved UW top-ten marks at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in the 5000 meters. Finger finished first in her heat with a time of 15:50.00, the No. 6 time in school history, while Willemse finished third in her heat with a personal best of 15:59.41, ranking No. 8. Mlodik won the 5000 meters at the Badger Windy City Invite (16:30.73) and finished as the runner-up in the 3000 meters at the Penn Elite (9:34.98). Jacobsen won the mile at the Windy City Invite (4:54.26), and Malloy-Salgado finished fifth in the 3000 meters at the Blue Demon Alumni Classic (9:42.49).
Looking Ahead
Following the Big Ten Championships, Wisconsin will compete at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
