CD Projekt Red Balances Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2, and New IP ‘Hadar’
CD Projekt Red is simultaneously developing sequels to both The Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises even as as well dedicating resources to a completely new intellectual property (IP) codenamed ‘Hadar.’ This strategic move aims to diversify the company’s portfolio and secure its future growth.
Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 Development Progress
As of July 2025, the development team for The Witcher 4 has grown to 444 people, up from 422 in April 2025. Cyberpunk 2’s team has also expanded, increasing from 96 to 116 developers. CD Projekt Red’s total developer headcount has reached nearly 800, representing a 10% increase in the last three months.
Cyberpunk 2 has transitioned from the research phase into full development and pre-production.
Project Hadar: A New IP in Prototyping
Project Hadar, a new IP being developed “entirely from scratch,” is currently in the prototyping stage. The project began in the concept phase in 2022. A dedicated team of 26 developers is working on Hadar, with plans to expand as development progresses.
The team is currently focused on designing specific game elements and creating multiple prototypes using Unreal Engine.
Strategic Diversification
The development of Hadar allows CD Projekt Red to foster innovation and experimentation without diverting resources from its core franchises.
