Alcobendas to Host WKA National Open of Contact Sports

Alcobendas, Madrid, is set to host the World Kickboxing & Karate Association (WKA) National Open of contact sports next Saturday, March 14. The event coincides with the WKA’s 50th anniversary, marking a significant year for the organization founded in 1976.

Event Details

The competition will take place at the Amaya Valdemoro Pavilion within the José Caballero Sports Center, beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing throughout the day. Athletes will compete in various disciplines including kickboxing, K1, Muay Thai, mixed martial arts (MMA), and Point Fight.

Scale and Participation

Organizers anticipate the participation of approximately 600 athletes and 200 coaches from across Spain. A total of 15 WKA commemorative belts will be awarded during the event.

The National Open is being held with the support of FUJIMAE, a company recognized as a world leader in martial arts and contact sports, and the promotional efforts of Unlimited Global Challengers (UGC). FUJIMAE has demonstrated a continued commitment to supporting amateur and grassroots categories to foster the growth of the sport.

WKA Leadership and Expansion

Antonio Ricobaldi and Fernando Muga, the president and vice president of the WKA in Spain, have recently been appointed as international delegates for Europe, highlighting the association’s expanding influence. The WKA recently hosted selection tests for Bare Knuckle Fight Company (BKFC), co-owned by MMA legend Conor McGregor, at The Black Panther Gym in Madrid, with over 60 boxers participating.
