On the 7th, the Wolgun Citizens’ Association for Finance and Management held a group viewing of the movie ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’, which depicts the story of the 6th king of Joseon, Danjong, and his loyalist Um Heung-do, at the CGV Cinema in Gangnam, Seoul.

The movie The Man Who Lived with the King is a work that revolves around the exile and death of King Danjong and the life of Eom Heung-do, who tried to protect the king until the end, and its main historical background is deeply related to Yeongwol.

After watching the movie, the members talked about the Danjong historical site and Yeongwol’s historical and cultural assets and said, “I once again felt that Yeongwol is an important place in our history,” and that it was an opportunity to empathize with the history and identity of their hometown, Yeongwol.

In particular, he pledged to play a role in promoting Yeongwol’s cultural and historical assets to the outside world, such as holding regular meetings using cultural contents such as movies, exhibitions, and lectures, as well as promoting the history and people of Yeongwol and conducting programs linked with field trips to visit sites in his hometown, such as Danjong historical sites.

Kim Gwang-ho, Chairman of the Yeongwol County Citizens’ Association for Finance and Management, said, “This group tour is an example of people from Yeongwol living in Seoul voluntarily gathering to share the history and values of their hometown, showing that Yeongwol’s cultural and historical content is gaining sympathy beyond the region. We will continue various cultural activities connected to our hometown Yeongwol.”
