The accused woman will be questioned today, the police said on Saturday morning. The police are working to notify next of kin and will still not say what family relationship there is between the accused and the deceased.
– A tactical and technical investigation is underway. Among other things, we have interviewed witnesses and carried out inquiries in the area, says police attorney Unni Byberg Malmin.
It is findings at the scene that form the basis of the charge, and the deceased is to be autopsied today.
Family relationship
At 8pm on Friday evening, emergency services responded to an address in Haugesund.
The police had received a message via A.M.C from a passerby who reported a disturbance at the address.
– A lifeless woman in her 30s was found there. Resuscitation was attempted, but unfortunately the woman’s life could not be saved, says police attorney Fredrik Martin Soma to NRK.
The woman was taken to hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 9pm.
A woman in her 40s was arrested at the same address. She is charged with murder, says the police attorney.
He says there is a family relationship between the accused and the deceased, but will not go into more detail about which relationship is involved.
He states that the charge is based on investigations and assessments from health personnel and police on the scene.
The police have cordoned off the area at the address.

The incident happened indoors at the address, according to police attorney Soma.
NRK has been in contact with defender Silje Christine Hellesen, she currently does not wish to comment on the case.
Not questioned yet
The police do not wish to comment on information about the sequence of events in the alleged murder.
The police will also not comment on whether they have made any seizures at the scene, or any injuries to the deceased.

There was a family relationship between the accused and the deceased. Paramedics tried to revive the woman, but unfortunately it was too late.

– It is very early in the investigation and there are a number of things we are working on that we cannot disclose to the media at this time, says Soma.
He says an autopsy will be carried out on the deceased on Saturday morning at the earliest.
– Can you rule out that there are other suspects in the case?
– We have no suspicion that there were others involved. But as I said, we are early in the investigation, so it is too early to rule it out completely, says Soma.
– Has the accused been questioned?
– She has not been questioned as of now. It is more likely that it will happen tomorrow morning, Soma told NRK at 01:30.
The police will continue with investigations throughout the night. The area is cordoned off at the site.
