Block 486 Segar Road Recycling Bins Rummaged Twice

Two women were caught on video rummaging through a textile recycling bin at Block 486 Segar Road on Oct 14 and 15, prompting cleanup and lock replacement by the waste management firm ALBA. Stomper Jeslyn documented the incidents after spotting overflowing clothes and individuals pulling items from the shared collection point,, Stomp reported.

The first incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Oct 14, when Jeslyn discovered an open recycling compartment with clothes, bags, and other items strewn on the ground. Footage shared with Stomp showed a woman taking clothing items from the bin and placing them into a bag on a trolley. The following day at about 8 a.m., while out buying breakfast for her children, Jeslyn spotted a second woman accompanied by a dog searching through piles of clothes at the same collection point.

ALBA Replaces Locks and Cleans Segar Road Area

In response to queries from Stomp, ALBA stated on Oct 16 that it cleaned up the area around the recycling bin at Block 486 Segar Road and replaced the bin’s lock. “The lock on the bin has since been replaced to enhance security and prevent unauthorised access,” an ALBA spokesperson said. The i-Bins at the location are part of ALBA’s recycling initiative in the area.

ALBA added that the bin is cleared at least once a week and that it would continue monitoring the location to ensure the surroundings remain clean. The spokesperson also stated that the firm would remind residents and users to help keep the surrounding space tidy and considerate for the community. Jeslyn had previously lodged a report through the OneService app regarding the condition of the shared public facilities.
