Eastern Illinois Volleyball Sweeps SIUE,Clinches OVC Tournament Berth

EDWARDSVILLE,Ill. – Eastern Illinois volleyball dominated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in a three-set sweep (25-18, 25-17, 25-16) on Saturday afternoon, securing a spot in the upcoming ohio Valley Conference (OVC) tournament. The Panthers showcased a powerful offensive performance and a stifling defense throughout the match.

Kirsten Ringenbach led the Panther attack with 12 kills, hitting at a .474 clip. Danielle Allen contributed 10 kills, and Olivia McPherson added 8 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Setter Kaitlyn Flynn orchestrated the offense effectively, dishing out 34 assists.

Defensively,EIU controlled the net. Allen registered a team-high 5 blocks,while Ringenbach and McPherson each added 3. Libero Grace Holly recorded 16 digs, anchoring the back row. The Panthers held SIUE to a .158 hitting percentage, forcing numerous errors.

eastern Illinois established control early in the frist set, utilizing a balanced attack and strong serving. They maintained momentum in the second and third sets,consistently extending their lead.SIUE struggled to find an offensive rhythm against EIU’s aggressive blocking and digging.

“I am incredibly proud of the team’s performance today,” said head coach Mary Wollmuth.”We executed our game plan effectively and played with a lot of energy.Securing a tournament spot is a great accomplishment, but we certainly know we have more work to do.”

The Panthers improve to 16-12 overall and 9-7 in OVC play. SIUE falls to 10-18 and 5-11 in the conference.
