World Liberty Financial Targets South Korea for USD1 Stablecoin Expansion

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) is positioning South Korea as the strategic starting point for its Asian expansion, aiming to move its USD1 stablecoin beyond crypto exchange liquidity and into everyday financial services like payments and decentralized finance, according to an interview with Bloomingbit. The crypto project, backed by the family of Donald Trump, is pairing its efforts with Moa Protocol to build real-world utility for the digital dollar.

Strategic Partnership with Moa Protocol Connects USD1 to Payments and DeFi

While major exchange listings provide basic access, they do not automatically translate to real-world spending, according to Ryan Ballantyne, Chief Business Officer at World Liberty Financial. To bridge that gap, WLFI formed a strategic partnership with Moa Protocol to embed USD1 into active financial rails, including decentralized asset management and consumer card spending. Ballantyne compared the role of USD1 to the historic “Intel Inside” model, describing the stablecoin as a foundational core component that powers various financial products rather than sitting visibly on the surface as a standalone product. Moa Protocol operates the MOA-Fi asset management platform, allowing users across the BNB Chain, Tron, and Ethereum networks to deposit USDT and access USD1-based investment opportunities. Moa Protocol plans to integrate USD1 into the MOA Card by the end of the year, enabling holders to use their digital assets for everyday transactions.

Medical Tourism and Technology-Savvy Users Shape South Korea Pilot

South Korea was chosen for the initial rollout due to its high concentration of users who are familiar with both advanced technology and digital assets. During market research, WLFI identified the South Korean medical tourism industry as a significant consumer sector worth approximately $2 billion annually. Moa Protocol subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Medical Tourism Promotion Association to expand industry partnerships. This agreement aims to let international visitors use digital assets like USD1 through the MOA Card to pay for medical services and receive promotional benefits at participating healthcare facilities. WLFI intends to test and refine this payment model in South Korea before scaling the framework to other regional markets across Asia.
