Brown Wrestling Competes at Franklin & Marshall Open

Lancaster, PA – The Brown University wrestling team sent ten athletes to compete in the David H. Lehman ’68 Franklin & Marshall Open on Friday,january 9th,in Lancaster,Pennsylvania. The tournament featured a mix of experienced wrestlers and newcomers looking to make their mark early in the season.

Wrestler Spotlights

Khimari Manns (141 lbs) and Dominic Frontino (157 lbs) led the Bears’ contingent. manns entered the competition with an 11-8 overall record, highlighted by six tech fall victories and one major decision. Frontino, coming off a performance at the Southern Scuffle, boasted a 14-9 record with two pinfall wins and three tech falls, bringing his career record at Brown to 27-25.

Four freshmen made their debut or continued their early collegiate careers at the open: Eli Carr (149 lbs) with an 8-8 record, Preston Marchesseault (184 lbs) making his first appearance for the Bears, and Riley McPherson (285 lbs). Carr has secured two tech falls and two major decisions this season. Marchesseault, a local athlete from Cranston, Rhode Island, and a Ponaganset High School graduate, was eager to begin his collegiate wrestling journey.

Senior Drew Clearie (174 lbs), with a 9-10 season record, aimed to improve his standing after a 2-2 performance at the Cougar clash Open on december 7th. clearie has recorded three pinfalls, one major decision, and one tech fall this year. Kai Tengco (141 lbs) and Nico Romero (165 lbs) both entered the competition with 3-3 records.
