Selected applicants will be assigned to a specific WTO division based on organisational needs and their stated preferences, which may include up to three areas from a list spanning trade negotiations, dispute settlement, digital trade, intellectual property rights, trade and environment, fisheries subsidies, government procurement, and MSME support, among others.
The initiative, first launched in 2016, seeks to address long-standing imbalances in the WTO Secretariat by increasing representation from developing and least-developed countries, aligning with the organization’s broader commitments to inclusivity and capacity-building across its membership.
