Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Receives Updates for 2026 Model Year

Wuling has officially launched the updated Hongguang Mini EV for the Chinese domestic market. The latest iteration of the popular electric city car features a five-door configuration and refreshed styling, as it aims to revitalize sales after a recent dip.

Fifth Generation Design and Dimensions

Wuling is marketing the updated model as the “fifth generation” Mini EV, though it is more accurately described as an update to the second-generation car launched in February 2025. CarNewsChina reports the new EV boasts a more modern and appealing design, highlighted by circular headlights with an integrated LED light strip, reminiscent of the refreshed Geely Panda Mini.

The five-door version measures 3,268 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,190 mm. Available color options include grey, green, and beige, replacing the previously offered white and black.

Powertrain and Performance

Both the five-door and a newly available two-door version are equipped with a 30 kW (approximately 42 hp) electric motor driving the rear wheels. Wikipedia details that previous generations have utilized various battery configurations, ranging from 9 kWh to 26.5 kWh, offering an electric range of 120–300 km (75–186 miles) depending on the battery type.

Sales and Market Position

The Wuling Hongguang Mini EV has been a sales leader in China, becoming the best-selling electric car in the country in 2022 and achieving over 1.1 million units sold globally as of February 2023. Wuling states the Hongguang Macaron has been the sales champion of pure electric vehicles in China for 28 consecutive months. However, sales experienced a significant decline in January 2026, with only 7,133 units sold, according to China EV DataTracker.

Pricing and Availability

Even as the official price has not been announced, sources indicate the updated Hongguang Mini EV will start at approximately 44,800 yuan (around $6,545 USD). The vehicle is expected to enter the Chinese market shortly to boost sales.
