WWE Files New Trademarks for Becky Lynch and NXT Stars
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has recently filed several new trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office, encompassing both the popular wrestler Becky Lynch and a selection of NXT superstars. These filings, made on February 27 and February 19, 2026, signal the company’s intent to protect its intellectual property and potentially expand its branding efforts.
Recent Trademark Filings
On February 27, WWE filed trademarks for “Lasskicker,” a well-known nickname for Becky Lynch, along with the names of several NXT performers: “Sean Legacy,” “The Vanity Project,” “Eli Knight,” “Jackson Drake,” “Ricky Smokes,” and “Brad Baylor.” Becky Lynch, born Rebecca Quin in 1987, is an Irish and American professional wrestler currently signed to the Raw brand.
Prior to this, on February 19, 2026, WWE filed trademarks for “CJ Valor,” “Kai Kavari,” “Santi Rivera,” and “Romeo Moreno.” These filings follow earlier trademark applications for “WWE Eras Collide,” “WWE Generations,” and “WWE Domination” intended for video game purposes, as well as the names “Tristan Angels” and “Dorian Van Dux.”
Scope of the Trademarks
The trademark descriptions cover a broad range of entertainment services, including wrestling exhibitions, performances by professional wrestlers, and related content delivered live and through various media – television, radio, and the internet. The trademarks also extend to providing wrestling news and information online, creating online communities for fans, and offering fan club services such as organizing sporting events and social entertainment activities.
Strategic Implications
These trademark filings are a standard practice for WWE, aimed at protecting its brands, and characters. Securing these trademarks allows the company to control the utilize of these names and prevent unauthorized merchandise or promotions. The filings also suggest potential future plans for these wrestlers and brands within WWE’s programming and merchandise lines.
As reported by Sports Illustrated, Becky Lynch has been praised for her efforts to highlight underutilized talent during her time as NXT Women’s Champion in 2023.
