WrestleMania 42 Heats Up: Punk and Reigns Clash, Lesnar Returns

WWE Raw descended upon San Antonio, Texas, delivering significant developments on the road to WrestleMania 42. Several rivalries intensified, a major WrestleMania challenge was accepted, and the present culminated in a volatile confrontation between Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar Confrontation

The show began with Seth Rollins and his masked followers asserting dominance. Rollins declared the creation of “The Vision” and vowed to dismantle it, targeting anyone associated with Paul Heyman, including Logan Paul. Rollins reminded the audience of his recent attack on Heyman, promising further retribution until Heyman leaves WWE.

A visibly injured Paul Heyman appeared, facing Rollins’s verbal assault. Before the situation could escalate, Brock Lesnar’s entrance ignited the crowd. Lesnar swiftly attacked Rollins’s masked followers, suplexing them one by one. After clearing the ring of Rollins’s group, Lesnar and Rollins locked eyes before the lights went out.

When the lights returned, Oba Femi entered the ring and defeated Lesnar with the Fall From Grace, accepting Lesnar’s open challenge for WrestleMania.

El Grande Americano 2 Victorious

El Grande Americano 2, accompanied by Rayo and Bravo Americano, defeated “Original” El Grande Americano in a lucha-style match. Distractions caused by Rayo and Bravo played a key role, with Bravo secretly reinforcing Grande 2’s mask. This allowed Grande 2 to capitalize after Original landed a diving headbutt on the reinforced mask, securing the pinfall victory.

Roman Reigns and CM Punk Trade Blows

Backstage, Roman Reigns, alongside Jimmy and Jey Uso, justified their attack on CM Punk from the previous week, stating that Punk’s comments about his father, Sika, were unacceptable. Reigns declared that Punk is his at WrestleMania.

Championship Matches and Attacks

AJ Lee retained the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Bayley, overcoming a fierce battle with the Black Widow submission hold. Immediately after the match, Becky Lynch attacked AJ Lee, launching a brutal assault and damaging the Intercontinental Championship.

Penta retained the Intercontinental Championship against Dragon Lee in a fast-paced lucha-style match, ultimately winning with a Mexican Destroyer. Dragon Lee showed respect after the match by raising Penta’s arm.

Natalya defeated Maxxine Dupri, declaring “The Dungeon is alive” after securing the victory with the Sharpshooter.

Stephanie Vaquer defeated Raquel Rodriguez in non-title action, with interference from Liv Morgan and a subsequent appearance by IYO SKY, ultimately winning with a roll-up.

Randy Orton’s Reflection

A video segment revealed Randy Orton speaking on the phone, reflecting on his actions against Cody Rhodes. Orton stated simply, “I am a killer,” and reminded viewers that wrestling has more than one royal family. He confirmed his appearance on SmackDown this Friday.

Heated Main Event Confrontation

The show concluded with Roman Reigns demanding recognition from the San Antonio crowd. CM Punk eventually appeared, leading to a heated verbal exchange. Reigns mocked Punk’s recent lack of main event appearances and labeled him old. Punk countered by questioning Reigns’s leadership and criticizing his reliance on The Bloodline.

The insults culminated in a physical altercation, with Punk punching Reigns in the face. Officials intervened to separate the two, although Reigns laughed and taunted Punk, claiming to have gotten inside his head. Raw ended with a furious Punk and a smirking Reigns.
