Xiaomi’s Black Shark Blade 2+ Power Banks Blend Style and Magnetic Charging

Xiaomi’s Black Shark division has launched the Blade 2+ series of power banks in China, offering a sleek design and magnetic charging capabilities. These power banks, available in 5,000mAh and 10,000mAh capacities, are positioned as upgrades to the existing Blade 2 models, focusing on portability and convenience for mobile users.

Slim Design and Lightweight Build

A key feature of the Black Shark Blade 2+ power banks is their slim profile. The 5,000mAh version measures just 0.8cm (0.31 inches) in thickness and weighs 105g (3.7 ounces), making it highly portable. The 10,000mAh model is slightly thicker at 1.36cm (0.54 inches) and weighs 175g (6.2 ounces), but remains relatively compact for its capacity. This emphasis on a lightweight build aims to appeal to users who prioritize convenience and ease of carrying.

Magnetic Charging and Compatibility

Both models support up to 15W wireless charging via magnetic attachment, offering a cable-free charging experience. The power banks utilize N52 magnets to ensure a strong and stable connection. While designed with iPhone compatibility in mind, the power banks can also charge other devices via a compatible cable.

Charging Speeds and Features

The 5,000mAh Black Shark Blade 2+ supports wired charging speeds of up to 18W, while the 10,000mAh version offers faster 22.5W wired charging. Both models feature a new coating on the magnetic surface, achieved through a UV excimer process, intended to improve the surface quality and aesthetics. A physical button on the side allows users to check the battery level with a single press, and a double press turns the power bank off.

“Apple-Derived” Battery Technology

Xiaomi highlights that the batteries used in the Black Shark Blade 2+ power banks are “Apple-derived,” suggesting a focus on stable and reliable power delivery. This marketing point aims to reassure users concerned about the quality and consistency of the charging experience, particularly with premium devices.

Pricing and Availability

In China, the Black Shark Blade 2+ 5,000mAh is priced at CNY 159 (approximately $29 USD), while the 10,000mAh model costs CNY 189 (approximately $27 USD). Currently, Xiaomi has not announced plans for a widespread global rollout, though international availability remains a possibility.

Market Positioning

The Black Shark Blade 2+ power banks compete in a market increasingly focused on design, portability, and features beyond just capacity. By prioritizing a slim form factor, magnetic charging, and a refined surface finish, Xiaomi is targeting users who value both functionality and aesthetics in their mobile accessories.
