Xiaomi Book Pro 14 Challenges MacBook Pro with Extended Battery Life and Innovative Design

Xiaomi has re-entered the notebook market with the Book Pro 14, aiming to compete directly with MacBooks and other premium ultrabooks. The device boasts a lightweight design, a high-resolution OLED display, and impressive battery life claims, positioning it as a strong contender in the high-end laptop space.

Lightweight Design and Premium Materials

The Xiaomi Book Pro 14 weighs just 1.08 kg (approximately 2.38 lbs) and measures 14.95 mm in thickness. Its construction utilizes a monolithic magnesium alloy, reportedly 30% lighter than traditional notebook builds. The bottom cover is crafted from carbon fiber, while the keyboard support plate is made of titanium alloy – 44% lighter than stainless steel – contributing to the overall lightweight design. The laptop is available in four colors: misty blue, elegant gray, creamy white, and soft pink.

Stunning 3.1K 120Hz OLED Display

The laptop features a 14.6-inch OLED touch panel with a 3120 x 2080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display achieves a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and a typical brightness of 500 nits, making it suitable for a variety of tasks, including text editing, photo editing, and video playback. The touchpad measures 129 cm² (140 x 93 mm) and is pressure sensitive.

Intel Panther Lake Performance

The Xiaomi Book Pro 14 is powered by Intel’s new generation Panther Lake processors. Configurations include options with the Core Ultra 5 325H, Core Ultra 5 338H, and Core Ultra X7 358H processors, paired with either 24GB or 32GB of RAM. All models come with a 1TB SSD and an additional M.2 2280 slot for storage expansion up to 4TB.

Advanced Cooling System

To maintain stable performance, the Book Pro 14 incorporates a vapor chamber, dual fans, and a three-channel heat removal system, capable of handling up to 50W of power.

Comprehensive Port Selection

Unlike many ultrabooks, the Xiaomi Book Pro 14 offers a comprehensive port selection, including Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This eliminates the need for dongles and adapters for connecting peripherals and external displays.

Impressive Battery Life

Xiaomi claims the Book Pro 14’s 72Wh battery, with an energy density of 800Wh/L, can deliver up to 19.8 hours of local 1080p video playback, 15.8 hours during online meetings, and 12.4 hours while streaming. These figures are presented as a direct comparison to the Apple MacBook Pro M5.

100W GaN Fast Charger Included

The laptop includes a 100W GaN fast charger, offering convenient and rapid charging capabilities.

The Xiaomi Book Pro 14 is currently available for sale in China starting March 21st. Pricing varies by configuration:
