XPeng Robotics Secures Over USD 900 Million in Financing Round

XPeng announced that its robotics business has raised over USD 900 million in a new share purchase agreement round, reaching a post-money valuation exceeding USD 6.3 billion. The company stated that the capital raise is the largest single-round private financing recorded in China’s embodied artificial intelligence industry to date. The transaction drew participation from multiple international investors, positioning the company for accelerated development in the humanoid robotics sector.

Global investors initiated the funding round, with IDG Capital leading the investment and Gaorong Ventures participating. Tencent and Alibaba provided support as strategic investors, according to company press releases. The influx of capital targets software and hardware research and development for XPeng’s robotics division, alongside training for Physical AI models and the creation of mass production facilities.

Investors Praise XPeng Humanoid Robot Capabilities

IDG Capital stated that XPeng’s humanoid robot represents the current standard of excellence in China’s humanoid robotics industry and holds the competitive strength required for international markets. The investor highlighted XPeng’s integrated full-stack capability spanning edge AI processors, Physical AI foundation models, and complete robotic systems supported by on-device compute and training compute infrastructure.

Gaorong Ventures noted that XPeng IRON is engineered for commercial deployment under automotive-grade standards for safety and quality. The firm described the humanoid platform as an intuitive interface and a gateway to real-world data that powers a self-reinforcing production, data, models, and deployment flywheel. He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPeng, stated that the strong capital backing provides the necessary resources to accelerate business growth and attract global Physical AI talent.

Next-Generation IRON Humanoid Robot Specifications

XPeng positions its next-generation IRON robot as a key pillar of its Physical AI strategy. The humanoid platform combines a human-like form and movement with AI-driven intelligence designed to support general-purpose applications. The hardware architecture features a proprietary fully enclosed flexible lattice structure that balances aesthetics and safety, incorporating 76 degrees of freedom across the body and 21 in each hand.

On the intelligence side, the robot utilizes three Turing AI chips delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of effective computing power. This processing capability allows the system to run Physical AI foundation models directly on-device for autonomous task execution without remote operation. The company reports that the hardware design enables the machine to adapt efficiently to environments built for human use.

XPeng Plans Mass Production by Late 2026

XPeng scheduled mass production for the IRON humanoid robot to begin by the end of 2026. Initial commercial deployment will take place inside XPeng’s stores and campuses. Official market launches and customer deliveries across China and international territories are scheduled to follow in 2027.
