Yangcheon District Enhances Public Sanitation with Self-Inspection Program

Yangcheon District, Seoul, is bolstering public health and hygiene standards through a new initiative promoting autonomous inspections of public sanitation facilities. The program, announced on February 22, 2026, aims to improve service levels and safeguard resident health by encouraging regular self-checks by business operators.

Program Details

The self-inspection program targets 1,632 facilities across various sectors within Yangcheon District, including:

  • Beauty businesses (1,289)
  • User businesses (87)
  • Laundry businesses (133)
  • Lodging businesses (13)
  • Bathhouse businesses (24)
  • Building hygiene management businesses (86)

Inspection Process

Business owners are required to conduct self-inspections at least once a month, utilizing industry-specific checklists. Annual submission of these checklists can be done either online or offline. The submission deadline for this year is May.

Online Submission

For online submissions, business owners can access the public health center’s website and log in using their industry, representative name, and date of birth – member registration is not required. The system allows for review of inspection items and direct saving of the completed checklist.

Offline Submission

Those unable to utilize the online system can complete a manual checklist and submit it via mail, fax, or email.

Joint Public-Private Inspections

Yangcheon District officials, along with honorary public health inspectors, will conduct on-site inspections through a collaborative public-private partnership for businesses that do not participate in the voluntary inspection or demonstrate inadequate inspection results. Non-compliant businesses will be given an opportunity to rectify issues, with administrative measures applied according to relevant laws and regulations if self-correction is not achieved.

Mayor Lee Ki-jae’s Statement
