Yankees’ Three Key Offseason Goals

The Yankees’ offseason officially began on October 8, the day they were eliminated by the blue Jays in the American League Division Series. It was another early start to the winter for the franchise with 27 rings – but none since 2009. It also represented a setback from 2024, when the Yankees won their first american League pennant in 15 years before losing in the World Series to the Dodgers in five games.

So, there is work to do, even for the Yankees to return to the level they showed in 2024…not to mention reaching the top of MLB. Here are three goals they should try to accomplish during the rest of the offseason.

Trent Grisham’s acceptance of the qualifying offer solidifies two of the three outfield spots and reduces some of the pressure the Yankees were feeling to acquire another outfielder this winter.

But a meeting with Bellinger makes too much sense. The veteran greatly enjoyed hitting at Yankee Stadium, with 18 home runs and a .302/.365/.544 slash line in 337 plate appearances in the Bronx. However,Bellinger’s importance to the Yankees goes beyond his bat, thanks to his athletic ability and versatility.

His ability to defend all three outfield positions, along with first base, gives the Yankees much more versatility. With him back, New York could keep Aaron Judge in right field and let Bellinger and Grisham handle center. Without Bellinger, New York could be forced to use Judge frequently in center field, a position in which he played 105 games in 2024. But the club would prefer not to assign that responsibility to its 33-year-old franchise player, considering the amount of ground that must be covered.

That’s one
