YFN Lucci: From Adversity to Already Legend
Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, known professionally as YFN Lucci, is charting a new course following his release from prison last year. With a new album, a nationwide tour and a renewed focus on business and family, the Atlanta rapper is determined to level up and solidify his legacy.
A Second Chance at Sound
“I just wanted to hear myself again,” YFN Lucci shared during an interview with Atlantic Records in November 2025. The sentiment reflects his eagerness to return to the studio after nine months of confinement, a stark contrast to the isolation of prison life.
Navigating Legal Battles and Finding Freedom
Four-and-a-half years ago, Lucci faced 13 RICO charges that threatened to derail his career. After nearly four years of incarceration, he pleaded guilty to one count of violation of Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act on January 23, 2024, and was released on January 31, 2025 .
Already Legend: An Exhale Years in the Making
Lucci’s first album since his release, Already Legend, dropped on September 26, 2025, and sold 28,800 equivalent album units in its first week. The project represents a cathartic release, allowing him to address the challenges he faced while incarcerated, including a prison attack and accusations of betrayal. “It was my time to finally speak out,” he stated.
Business Ventures and a Clearer Focus
Beyond music, Lucci is expanding his entrepreneurial endeavors. He has launched his own record label, Already Legend, and signed fellow Atlanta rapper BHM Pezzy. He is also actively pursuing real estate investments, stating, “I’m working on trying to purchase buildings right now, too.”
Family First
Lucci emphasizes the importance of family, particularly spending quality time with his four children. “I finally can hold them and be present,” he expressed. His time away has instilled a greater appreciation for his loved ones and a clearer perspective on his priorities.
A Truce and a Path Forward
Lucci has also sought to reconcile past conflicts, including a feud with Young Thug. Encouraged by 21 Savage, the two rappers reached a truce, resulting in collaborations on their respective albums, UY Shields and Already Legend.
Looking Ahead
Despite the challenges he’s overcome, Lucci remains optimistic about the future of Atlanta hip-hop and his own place within it. He is currently on his Already a Legend tour, with a planned final stop at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, a venue he previously performed at in August 2025. Lucci is determined to build on his success and evolve into a mogul akin to Rick Ross or Jay-Z, proving that his journey is far from over.
