80th Anniversary Commemorates Return of Remains of Yoon Bong-gil

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the return of the remains of Yoon Bong-gil, a Korean independence activist who carried out a bombing in Shanghai, China, a promotional video highlighting the repatriation process has been produced by the Ishikawa Prefecture Regional Headquarters of the Korean People’s Association in Japan (Mindan).

Yoon Bong-gil’s Legacy

Yoon Bong-gil was killed in December 1932 in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, after throwing a bomb at Japanese leaders in Shanghai in 1932. His remains were secretly buried and discovered by Korean residents in Japan on March 6, 1946, the year following Korea’s liberation. He was then returned to Korea that same year.

Promotional Video Details

The recently produced video, approximately 6 minutes in length, features narration in both Korean and Japanese. It aims to publicize the historical achievements created by the memory and responsibility of the Korean people, as well as the patriotism and solidarity of the Korean community in Japan.

An official from Mindan’s Ishikawa Prefecture headquarters stated the video was created to mark the 80th anniversary of the return of the remains and to highlight the historical significance of the event.
