Seattle Children’s Theatre Presents “Young Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story”
Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) is currently staging “Young Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story,” a new play exploring the formative years of martial arts icon Bruce Lee, specifically his time in Seattle. The production, running through March 29, 2026, offers a unique glimpse into Lee’s life before his global fame, focusing on his journey of self-discovery and the development of his unique martial arts philosophy.
A Story of Self-Discovery in Seattle
The play delves into Lee’s experiences navigating a new country and finding his voice. It portrays him not as the polished action hero he would become, but as a young man grappling with identity and purpose. According to Bruce Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, the play highlights a lesser-known aspect of her father’s life – his youth and the foundations upon which he built his legacy. Production Details
Written by Keiko Green and directed by Jess McLeod, “Young Dragon: A Bruce Lee Story” is a new work commissioned by SCT. Seattle Children’s Theatre states the play is recommended for ages 8 and up and runs approximately 75 minutes with no intermission. New performances have been added on March 27th, 28th, and 29th. The play is being performed at the Eve Alvord Theatre.
