Five County Stadium was previously home to the Carolina Mudcats, who announced in 2023 their move to a new $69 million stadium in Wilson, North Carolina, where they will compete as the Wilson Warbirds, a Class-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers .

A Fan-Driven Name and Australian Connection

The name “Devil Dogz” was chosen from a selection of fan-submitted options, including Iron Horses, Thunder Roos, Croc Hunters, and Bushrangers . Adding a unique international element, the Devil Dogz will feature a roster exclusively comprised of college players from Australia, thanks to a partnership with Ozball Australia . This collaboration aims to connect Australian athletes with U.S. College and professional baseball opportunities .

What to Expect This Season

Season tickets are currently on sale, offering access to an All-You-Can-Eat menu that includes hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, soda, chips, and a mystery Australian food item. The Devil Dogz’s first season will kick off on May 22 . Single-game tickets will become available in April.

Capitol Broadcasting and the Future of Five County Stadium

Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC), the parent company of WRAL, assumed day-to-day operations of Five County Stadium in January. CBC has a history of revitalizing community facilities, including Rocky Mount Mills (purchased in 2007) and the American Tobacco Campus (purchased in 2001) .
