Zelensky to Send Revised Peace Proposals to US

Kyiv:

President Volodymyr Zelensky saeid on Tuesday he plans to send revised proposals to the United States “in the near future” regarding ending Russia‘s war on Ukraine. This follows meetings with European allies to discuss their next moves.

US President Donald Trump is urging Kyiv to accept a deal proposed by Washington. However, the initial version of the deal faced criticism from Ukraine’s allies, who considered it too favorable to russia.

Zelensky wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after meetings with European allies this week that the “ukrainian and European components are now more developed, and we are ready to present them to our partners in the US.”

“In the near future, we will be ready to send the refined documents to the United States,” he said. He had previously indicated the proposals might be sent to Washington on Tuesday.

Trump, in an interview with Politico published on Tuesday, claimed Russia has the “upper hand” in the conflict. He also accused Zelensky of not reading the latest US proposals.

He further accused Kyiv of “using war” to postpone elections, which have been delayed due to martial law imposed since Russia’s invasion.

“You know, they talk about a democracy, but it gets to a point where it’s not a democracy anymore,” Trump said.
