Bloomberg News reports that Zelensky has accepted the US offer to hold another round of talks next week, in which “negotiators are likely to focus on the difficult issue of territory.”
The new round of talks is scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday, Zelensky told the agency, although it is not yet known whether Russia will agree to the talks in the US.
The US proposal to create a free economic zone as a buffer zone in Donbas is on the agenda, but Zelensky said that both sides are skeptical of this possibility.
“Neither side is enthusiastic about the idea of a free economic zone – neither the Russians, nor us (…). We have different views on this issue. And we agreed on the following – at the next meeting we will return with a vision of what it could look like,” said Zelensky.
