“We received an invitation, our diplomats are working on it,” Zelensky told reporters. “It’s still very difficult for me to imagine how we and Russia could be together in any council,” he added.

It has already been reported that the USA has invited Putin and the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko to join this council.

Ukraine’s president also expressed concern today that Trump’s efforts to acquire Greenland could divert the attention of the international community from Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Trump last week threatened European countries with tariffs of up to 25% for opposing his plans to buy Greenland.

Kyiv worries about any disputes that could divide Western allies and distract them from the Russia-Ukraine war. Zelensky stressed that the dispute over Greenland, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark, and Russia’s war against Ukraine should not be considered “interchangeable” issues.

“We have a full-scale war, we have a specific aggressor, and we have specific victims,” the Ukrainian president reminded. He also called on Washington to engage in diplomacy with Europe.

“I really, really want America to hear Europe, really hear it in the form of diplomacy. I think that will happen, and I strongly believe that there will be no great threat,” he added.
