Zone & co. is bolstering its procure-to-pay (P2P) solutions through a series of strategic acquisitions, adding capabilities in optical character recognition (OCR), financial reporting, and payroll automation. These moves align with a broader industry trend of Accounts Payable (AP) departments adopting automation solutions to cover the entire P2P cycle, as highlighted in recent reports.

In July 2024, Zone & Co. acquired Staria‘s AP automation solution, Staria Flow, adding enterprise-level OCR capabilities to its offerings. Staria Flow automates invoice processing and data capture, streamlining the P2P process.

Prior to the Staria acquisition, Zone & co. expanded its portfolio by acquiring Solution 7, a financial reporting solution provider, and Infinet Cloud, a provider of payroll and employee-centric solutions.

These acquisitions come as AP departments increasingly seek comprehensive automation. A recent PYMNTS Intelligence report, “From Back Office to Strategic Powerhouse: AP’s Transformation in 2025”,found that AP departments are adopting automation solutions that cover the entire procure-to-pay cycle. The report also emphasizes the importance of integrating automation with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to ensure real-time data synchronization across finance, procurement, and other departments.

Zone & Co.’s expansion reflects a growing trend of AP departments evolving from back-office functions to strategic powerhouses within organizations.
