Petersburg Lady Vikings Conclude Season at Region V Championships
The Petersburg Lady Vikings’ basketball season came to an end at the Region V Championships held in Juneau-Douglas on Friday, March 6th, 2026. The team faced a tough opponent in the Wrangell Lady Wolves, ultimately falling with a final score of 37-25 Petersburg Pilot.
Strong Performance Against Haines
Prior to their match against Wrangell, the #4 seeded Lady Vikings competed against the #5 seeded Haines Glacier Lady Bears. In this game, Petersburg achieved its highest point total of the season, scoring 43 points against Haines’ man-to-man defense.
Head coach Matt Pawuk noted the team’s success against man-to-man defenses, stating, “We’re pretty good against man-to-man defense and I think that’s why teams have not played man-to-man against us much at all this season.” He added, “I almost felt like the kids were chopping at the bit to attack a man-to-man defense for one of the few times this year that we got to.” Petersburg Pilot.
Lexie Tow’s Performance
Sophomore forward Lexie Tow was featured during the Region V Championships, attempting to steal the ball from Wrangell’s Hailey Cook Petersburg Pilot. Tow likewise competed in the 100m Hurdles, with rankings available on Athletic.net.
Regional Relay Results
The Petersburg HS (A) team, including Bella Miller, Lexie Tow, Brooklyn Whitethorn, and Olivia Hinde, participated in the 200 Medley Relay Women at the ASAA Region V Championships, achieving a time of 1:57.70 and securing 14 points Swimcloud.
