2026 Eid al-Fitr Travel: Trans-Java Toll Road One-Way System and Discounts Explained

As the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday approaches, travelers planning to use private vehicles on the Trans-Java Toll Road should be aware of traffic management measures implemented to ensure a smoother homecoming and return flow. These measures include a one-way system and toll fare discounts.

One-Way System on the Trans-Java Toll Road

To mitigate congestion, the government will implement a one-way system on the Trans-Java Toll Road during peak travel periods. This system directs all traffic on designated sections in a single direction, effectively preventing opposing traffic and reducing bottlenecks. The implementation is situational and based on the discretion of the Indonesian Police to reduce vehicle density.

The one-way system will be in effect:

  • Homebound (Jakarta – Cikampek to Semarang – Solo): March 17 – March 20, 2026 (Tuesday 12:00 WIB – Friday 24:00 WIB)
  • Return Flow (Semarang – Solo to Jakarta – Cikampek): March 23 – March 29, 2026 (Monday 12:00 WIB – Sunday 24:00 WIB)

Safe Practices for One-Way Routes

When traveling on toll roads with a one-way traffic system, drivers should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Stay Disciplined in One Lane: Maintain lane discipline, as the one-way system is dynamic and regulated by police officers. Use the right lane for overtaking and the left lane for slower travel.
  • Look Ahead: Anticipate changes in the one-way system by observing the road ahead for ending points or officer directions.
  • Avoid Sudden Lane Changes: Change lanes only at designated points indicated by officers and after checking rearview mirrors and signaling intentions with the horn.
  • Ensure Safety Before Changing Lanes: Only move to the next lane when conditions are safe.

Toll Fare Discounts for Eid al-Fitr 2026

The Ministry of Public Works has announced toll road fare discounts for four days during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period. The discounts, generally around 30% for all vehicle categories, apply to long-distance travel using electronic payment methods.

The general discount period is:

  • Homebound: March 15 – March 16, 2026
  • Return Flow: March 26 – March 27, 2026

Exceptions to the General Discount Schedule

Several toll roads have different discount schedules:

  • Tangerang–Merak Toll Road: March 12–13 and March 31–April 1, 2026
  • Kayuagung–Palembang Toll Road: Additional discounts on March 14, 28 and 29, 2026
  • Cimanggis–Cibitung Toll Road: March 21–22, 2026
  • Becakayu Toll Road: Dynamic pricing discount of 10–20% through March 31, 2026
  • Cibitung–Cilincing Toll Road: Discounts ranging from 12–44% for Category II–V vehicles through April 30, 2026

The discount will not apply if the electronic toll balance is insufficient or if the system fails to detect the vehicle’s origin or classification.

Additional Toll Road Openings

PT Jasa Marga will functionalize four toll road sections without tariffs during the 2026 Eid homecoming and return period. These sections are located within the Trans Java Toll Road network to support traffic distribution.

Looking Ahead

These measures aim to prevent excessive congestion during the Eid al-Fitr travel period. Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and stay informed about the latest traffic updates.
