Ava Venturelli: Louisville Softball Star Poised for Continued Success

Ava Venturelli, a junior from Taunton, Massachusetts, is a key player for the University of Louisville softball team. Her performance has been steadily improving and she is expected to contribute significantly to the Cardinals’ success in the 2026 season.

Early Career Highlights (2024-2025)

Venturelli made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2024, connecting on a walk-off grand slam in an 11-3 win over Bowling Green State on February 25th. She likewise registered her first collegiate hit, a two-run single, against Coastal Carolina on February 24th, and made her first career start as a designated player against Villanova on March 1st. Her efforts earned her a place on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

As a sophomore in 2025, Venturelli appeared in 25 games, making 7 starts as a designated hitter. She batted .282 with 8 RBIs and one home run, including a strong performance against Longwood on February 28th where she recorded 4 RBIs and a home run. She was also recognized as an NFCA Scholar Athlete.

High School and Travel Ball Achievements

Before joining the Cardinals, Venturelli excelled at Taunton High School, helping lead her team to three consecutive state titles. She was a 2023 Taunton Daily Gazette All-Scholastics Team selection and an Alliance All-Star. In her senior year, she hit .479 with a .565 on-base percentage, nine home runs, and 35 RBIs. As a junior, she maintained a .457 batting average with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs, earning HockomockSports All-Star honorable mention and another Taunton Daily Gazette All-Star nod.

Venturelli was also a highly-regarded recruit, recognized by Extra Innings as the 20th-overall recruit and the 12th-rated outfielder in the class of 2023, and ranked at No. 71 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100. She contributed to the Louisville Lady Sluggers’ third-place finish at the 2022 Alliance National Championship and was a key member of the Rhode Island Thunder Gold squad that competed at Premier Girls Fastpitch Nationals in 2021.
