The 49ers organization released an official statement confirming that Coach Shanahan suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. According to the team, Shanahan will participate in training camp activities on a limited basis while he continues his recovery. The franchise also expressed gratitude toward the emergency personnel who responded to the scene.
“Coach Shanahan and the 49ers organization would like to sincerely thank all first responders involved for their efforts and care,” the team stated.
During Shanahan’s initial recovery period, Assistant Head Coach Chris Foerster will step in to manage day-to-day head coaching responsibilities alongside the team’s coordinators.
