Five Plead guilty in Antifa-Linked Shooting of Police Officer

DALLAS (AP) – Five individuals pleaded guilty Wednesday to terrorism-related charges stemming from a July shooting that wounded a police officer outside a Texas immigration detention center. Prosecutors allege the shooting was carried out in support of antifa.

These charges follow President Trump’s designation of antifa as a domestic terrorist organization. Trump has consistently blamed antifa for instances of political violence across the country.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated these are the first terrorism-related charges targeting antifa for material support. The July 4th shooting occurred near the Prairieland Detention Center outside Dallas.Federal prosecutors claim an antifa cell launched an attack involving gunfire and fireworks directed at the facility.

Antifa isn’t a single, structured organization. It’s a broad term encompassing various left-leaning militant groups that actively confront or resist neo-Nazis and other far-right groups. These groups often employ direct action tactics, and their activities have drawn increased scrutiny in recent years.
