81-Year-Old Pedestrian Hospitalized with Life-Threatening Injuries in Halifax Crosswalk Collision

Halifax, NS – An 81-year-old pedestrian is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle at a marked crosswalk in Halifax on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at the intersection of Chebucto Road and Phillips Street.

Details of the Incident

According to Halifax Regional Police, the pedestrian was hit by a man driving a Ford Edge SUV at approximately 12:30 p.m. On February 22, 2026 . Emergency responders transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital for treatment.

Chebucto Road was closed to traffic between Phillips Street and Clifton Street until 3:30 p.m. On Sunday as police investigated the scene .

Investigation Ongoing

As of Monday, February 23, 2026, no charges have been laid in connection with the incident . The Halifax Regional Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency (HRFE) Station 05 responded to the scene .
