Nordonia Graduates Perrine and Jones Compete in NCAA Wrestling Championships

CLEVELAND — The NCAA Division I Men’s Wrestling Championships will see two Nordonia High School graduates, Sal Perrine and Jaivon Jones, compete for national titles at Rocket Arena this weekend, March 19-21, 2026.

Perrine’s Journey to the Championships

Sal Perrine, representing Ohio University, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships after a successful season. He placed first in the Freshman/Sophomore Division at both the Michigan State Open and the Navy Classic, and finished third at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships .

Jones Returns for NCAA Championship

Jaivon Jones of UALR will also be competing. He is listed among the qualifiers for the 2026 NCAA Tournament . He is matched up against Mason Shrader (CMU) in the bracket .

At-Large Selection Process

The NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee determined at-large selections based on several criteria, including head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, ratings percentage index, coaches’ ranking, and conference tournament finish .

Championship Details

The 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships are being held in Cleveland, Ohio, from March 19-21. The event will showcase top wrestling talent from across the nation.
