MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Robert Morris University (RMU) men’s hockey team couldn’t recover from a speedy start by Lindenwood University, resulting in a 6-2 loss in the series opener on Friday night. The Colonials now hold a 2-8-1 overall record as they continue their final non-conference series of the season.

First Period: A Quick Lindenwood Lead

Lindenwood wasted no time establishing a lead, scoring just 23 seconds into the game. Nolan Seed converted on the opening shift, giving the Lions a 1-0 advantage. The early goal set a challenging tone for the Colonials.

Lindenwood Extends the Lead

The Lions continued their offensive pressure, adding a second goal at 4:28 of the first period. Cale Listlaw found the back of the net, increasing Lindenwood’s lead to 2-0. RMU struggled to establish sustained offensive zone time in the opening frame.

RMU Responds, But Lindenwood Answers

RMU managed to cut into the deficit at 8:24 when Justin addamo scored his first goal of the season, assisted by nick DiPaolo adn Cameron Garvey. This briefly shifted the momentum, bringing the score to 2-1. However, Lindenwood quickly responded. Just 38 seconds later, Ethan Zielke restored the Lions’ two-goal lead, making it 3-1.

Second Period: Lions Pull Away

Lindenwood continued to dominate in the second period. Kyle Keyser scored at 4:38,extending the lead to 4-1. The Lions capitalized on a power play at 12:29, with Cale Listlaw scoring his second goal of the night, making it 5-1. RMU goaltender Chad Veltri faced a barrage of shots, but the Lions’ offensive pressure proved too much to handle.

Third Period: Late Goal for RMU

The Colonials found the back of the net again in the third period. At 14:47, Ben Schina scored a power-play goal, assisted by Addamo and DiPaolo, bringing the score to 5-2. However, Lindenwood sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:44, scored by Joe Prouty, finalizing the score at 6-2.
