RSU 13 Cancels Classes After Student Killed by School Bus
ROCKLAND, Maine – RSU 13 will cancel regular classes Monday and Tuesday as the community continues to grieve the death of a 12-year-old student who was hit and killed by a school bus on Friday, according to a letter shared with families Sunday.
Superintendent John McDonald said schools will offer drop-in support sessions from 8 to 11 a.m. both days at two locations where additional counseling will be available. South School will be open to elementary students, families, and staff, while Oceanside high School will be open to middle and high school students, families, and staff.
All other schools will remain closed.
RSU 13 noted that concerning social media posts have circulated recently, and said law enforcement will have an increased presence at the two open schools.
