Studsvik Secures Software Order for RomaniaS First Small modular Reactor Project
November 25, 2025 – swedish nuclear technology company Studsvik has announced its first software order supporting the development of small modular reactors (SMRs). Romanian energy company RoPower Nuclear has selected Studsvik’s Core Management System 5 (CMS5) to be utilized in Romania‘s inaugural SMR project, a significant advancement in the nation’s pursuit of clean energy solutions.
The implementation of CMS5 will aid RoPower Nuclear in optimizing the performance and safety of its SMR, contributing to a more efficient and reliable energy supply. Studsvik’s CMS5 is a widely-used software platform for nuclear fuel management and core design, offering complete tools for reactor physics calculations and safety analysis.
“We are proud to contribute our proven software tools to this pioneering project,” stated Art Wharton, director of Studsvik Scandpower Group, in a company press release. “This order demonstrates the growing demand for our expertise as the SMR market matures and countries like Romania invest in next-generation nuclear technology.”
