Joni Mitchell Spotted Shopping at Sunshine Coast Vintage Store

Canadian music icon Joni Mitchell lives on “Both Sides Now” – figuratively and literally.

Mitchell, known for her hauntingly gorgeous lyrics and voice, splits her time between Los Angeles and British Columbia. Recently, a local business owner had a special encounter with the legend.

The songstress visits a popular vintage store on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast about twice a year.

The Shop on the Shore is located at 4780 Sunshine Coast Hwy in Davis Bay, on the way to Sechelt. It features over 30 vendors selling art, tea, and clothes. Most vendors are women from the community.

Julie-Anne Corby sells at the shop through her business, The Knitting Machine Lady. On November 16, she was waiting for the bus when a friend texted her that Mitchell was inside.

Mitchell now sits in a chair while an assistant selects items she likes. Corby says Mitchell had four assistants and a driver with her.

Mitchell chose several baby clothes for a friend,and a vintage scarf. She’s a lovely, gracious woman, Corby added.

The Shop on the shore supports local women entrepreneurs, and Mitchell’s patronage is a boost for the community. It’s wonderful to see such a celebrated artist supporting local businesses.
