Blackhawks’ Levshunov Scratched for Maple Leafs Game Following Disciplinary Action
Toronto, ON – December 16, 2024 – Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Artyom Levshunov will be a healthy scratch for Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank arena. The decision, announced by Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill following the morning skate, stems from Levshunov’s tardiness to Monday’s practice.
Levshunov, the second overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, has registered 14 points (one goal and 13 assists) in 31 games played this season, averaging 17:12 of ice time per game. https://www.nhl.com/blackhawks
“He understands we have a standard, and that’s been pretty clear,” Blashill stated. “He’s disappointed. It’s hard when you feel like you didn’t do it on purpose, and I get it. But you can’t lack on your standard.”
To fill the roster spot, the Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Ethan Del Mastro from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). https://www.rockfordicehogs.com/ Del Mastro will make his season debut with the Blackhawks tonight.
This disciplinary action underscores Coach Blashill’s commitment to accountability within the Blackhawks institution, particularly for a highly touted prospect like Levshunov. The team is currently navigating a rebuilding phase and emphasizing the importance of professionalism and adherence to team standards.
The game against the Maple Leafs is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET and will be broadcast on TSN4 and CHSN.
