NotebookLM Gains Chat History & Expanded Access for AI Ultra Subscribers

Google’s NotebookLM has received a notable update, rolling out chat history functionality to all users and expanding access and usage limits for Google AI Ultra subscribers. These enhancements aim to provide a more seamless and powerful experience for users leveraging AI to interact with and analyze their personal facts.

Chat History Now Available for All NotebookLM Users

NotebookLM now allows users to continue conversations across different platforms – seamlessly transitioning between web and mobile (Android/iOS). This new chat history feature timestamps each response, providing a clear record of the interaction. Users have the option to delete their chat history via the three-dot overflow menu,allowing them to start fresh when needed. Importantly, chats within a shared notebook remain private and accessible only to the user who initiated them.

Google confirmed on December 11, 2024, that this functionality is now available to 100% of NotebookLM users across both web and mobile interfaces.

Google AI Ultra Subscribers Receive Substantial Usage Boost

Alongside the chat history rollout, Google has expanded access to NotebookLM for subscribers to the Google AI Ultra plan. This premium tier now offers a substantially increased capacity for utilizing the AI-powered tool.

The expanded usage limits for AI Ultra represent a ten-fold increase compared to the AI Pro plan, and include:

* 5,000 Chats per day

* 200 Audio Overviews per day

* 200 Video Overviews per day

* **1,000 Reports per
