Apple Pauses SB2420 Compliance Tools Following Texas Court Injunction

Apple has paused the implementation of tools designed too help developers comply with Texas’s Senate Bill 2420 (SB2420) following a recent injunction issued by a district court. The injunction temporarily suspends enforcement of the law, which mandated age assurance requirements for app marketplaces and developers operating within the state. Apple will continue to monitor the ongoing legal proceedings.

The company initially announced a suite of tools to assist developers in meeting these obligations, and these resources will remain available for sandbox testing. Details on these tools can be found here.

Furthermore, Apple confirms these tools can also be utilized by developers preparing for similar legislation slated to take effect in Utah and Louisiana in 2026. The Declared age Range API remains globally accessible for applications on iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26, and later versions.
