Respiratory Illnesses Surge Across New Hampshire

Cases of respiratory illness are rising sharply across New Hampshire. Teh state health department’s latest weekly count indicates almost the entire state experiences “very high” rates of flu and other viral infections.

Carroll County remains the only area not categorized as experiencing “very high” respiratory illness activity,currently rated “high.” State data reveals Belknap, Merrimack, and Hillsborough counties saw a particularly sharp increase in cases over the past two weeks.

The CDC reports influenza as the primary driver of emergency department visits. As of December 20, roughly 5% of ER visits in New Hampshire stemmed from the flu. CDC data provides further details.
