Texas Longhorns Baseball Standouts Earn Preseason All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Three members of the university of Texas Longhorns baseball team – Dylan Volantis, Carson Tinney, and Aiden Robbins – have been recognized with preseason All-America honors by Perfect Game, the organization announced on Wednesday, January 3, 2026.
Volantis secured a spot on the first team, while Tinney and Robbins were both named to the second team. This recognition highlights the anticipated contributions of these players as the longhorns prepare for the upcoming season.
Dylan Volantis: Dominant Freshman Performance
volantis, a left-handed pitcher, enjoyed a remarkable debut campaign in 2025, earning consensus All-American honors, including first-team recognition from Perfect Game. He was also named the baseball America National Freshman of the Year after leading all Division I freshmen in WHIP (0.88) and saves (12). His ERA of 1.94 ranked second among all freshmen nationally, and he held opposing batters to a .185 batting average [Baseball America].
Volantis’s 11 saves in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play set a new freshman record, surpassing the previous mark of 22 years held by Ole Miss’ Steven Head. He was also recognized as the NCBWA Freshman Pitcher of the Year and the SEC Pitcher of the Year, finishing tied for 10th nationally in total saves.
Carson Tinney: Powerhouse Catcher
Tinney,a transfer from Notre Dame,earned consensus all-America distinction as a sophomore in 2025. He led all Power Four players in Weighted Runs Created Plus (wRC+) with a score of 179 and Weighted On-Base Average (wOBA) with a .535 average. His OPS of 1.251 was second only to Tennessee’s Andrew Fischer (1.257) [perfect Game].
Tinney excelled offensively for the Irish, leading the team in average (.348), runs (52), home runs (17), runs batted in (53), total bases (119), walks (34), on-base percentage (.498), slugging percentage (.753), and multi-RBI performances (17). He was also a finalist for the prestigious Buster Posey Award.
Aiden Robbins: Offensive Threat
Robbins, widely regarded as one of the nation’s top hitters, received an ABCA/Rawlings East All-Region Second Team selection following his sophomore season at Seton Hall. He ranked sixth nationally in batting average (.422) and Batting Average on balls in Play (BABIP) with a .482 average.
Robbins led his team in numerous offensive categories, including average, runs (63), hits (86), doubles (19), total bases (133), walks (44), on-base percentage (.537), slugging percentage (.652), stolen bases (20), and multi-hit games (26). He also earned All-Big East First Team honors.
